Over the weekend I visited Cardiff, Wales. Cardiff was….eh… well. Nuff said.
HOWEVER, at the National Museum I saw the most amazing installation by Fernando Bryce called Die Welt. It was BEAUTIFULLY painted with Indian Ink… reminds me a lot of what I would love some of my own art to look like at times.
This piece of art was examining how political propoganda, news and media convey a certain perception of a group of people or historical events. He highlights the way that “truth” and “fact” are conveyed, and how different ethnic and cultural groups are represented in these historical documents.
It was absolutely gorgeous. The lines were so straight, and the quality of the deep ink and the thick/thin of the brush strokes was breathtaking. I want to try and replicate it myself at some point. Absolutely beautiful.
